Motivation to apply:
I was initially attracted to the graduate program for its unique template. Unlike conventional graduate programs, we experience all sides of the business, gaining knowledge and exposure from many places and people. Visiting major account sites and experiencing their processes front-on offers critical understanding to the industry. The fluidity of the program has created a hands-on environment where graduates can thrive off their own accord, progress within the company and contribute meaningfully to its continuing success.
A moment of achievement:
Many Tradelink branches have gone through a restructuring and revamping phase apart of the MMEM acquisition, allowing for independent and creative adaptations at each profit centre. Tradelink Richmond has moved away from the retail market, strengthening the relationship with their top project accounts by commencing plans for a new training hub and supplier interactive displays. The designs I have generated have created an incredibly positive consensus with our key accounts and supplier market.
Challenge faced and overcome:
The importance of communication is critical in the success of client relationships. In the unfortunate circumstance an error on our behalf does occur, servicing the account as best as possible encourages the loyalty the account will provide to Tradelink. On occasion, accounts will have an emergency that needs to be actioned immediately but are unable to pick-up what they require for the job within trading hours. Ensuring they can pick up fittings in a secure location after hours to complete job ensures the continued strength of the relationship between client and supplier.
Program shaping future career:
This program has galvanised my passion for sales and consumer connection. Success is earned through trust, strategy, and resilience, associating with people, understanding their needs, and fulfilling the perfect solution. Every interaction is an opportunity to grow and learn, perfecting the art of persuasion, hoping that every insight you have learnt will win you the next job. Sales is a dynamic journey of continual growth and achievement that I am excited to see where it will lead.
Good memory:
Work is a place to garner profit and success for a business, but it is important to celebrate those successes we share. From meeting after work on a Friday for conversation outside of our jobs, to pizza parties in the lunchroom, spending time with colleagues in relaxed environments fosters an enjoyable work life balance. Celebrating company wins whether it be free coffee or a game of lawn bowls, recognition for achievement and investing in the continued success of staff ensures that we all maintain our focus, creativity, and motivation.
