The Evergreen Program is perfect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples looking for an entry level role in government.

With positions are available in offices across Australia, you can engage in meaningful work that benefits your community and all Australians. Advance your career in a well-established program, thriving alongside other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants in an inclusive environment.

The program can offer you:

$64,095 plus 15.4% super in a permanent role with a promotion to the next level upon successful completion with a salary of $75,431 plus 15.4% super
a Certificate IV
4 weeks holiday leave, plus 1 week of paid leave over the Christmas shutdown
a supportive cohort of other Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander participants to work and learn with
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander employee networks and Indigenous Liaison Officer
access flexible working hours, flex time and work from home arrangements.

Applications for the ATO Evergreen Program open 14 March and close 14 April 2025. If you’re successful, you’ll start in September 2026.

Who can apply
To apply for the ATO Evergreen Program, you must provide written evidence that you:

are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
are accepted in your community as being Aboriginal or a Torres Strait Islander
are an Australian citizen.

You'll be asked to provide confirmation of Aboriginal or Torres Strait heritage (or both) within 6 weeks of applications closing.

Adelaide, Albury, Box Hill, Brisbane, Canberra, Dandenong, Gosford, Hobart, Melbourne, Moonee Ponds, Newcastle, Parramatta, Penrith, Perth, Sydney, Townsville, Upper Mount Gravatt, and Wollongong.
