Company Overview

What do you think of when you hear IBM - Mainframes? Hard drives? The Personal Computer?

We don’t sell tabulating machines, laptops or intel servers anymore - we’re a new IBM, and possibly not like you imagined. For a start, we use MAC’s (yes, really!), and our leaders wear jeans. We apply design thinking – and have the post-it’s to prove it. We enable start-ups to grow and are transforming healthcare – we’re even curing disease! We are defining the cognitive era, and this is just the beginning.

For over 80 years, IBM has been working to solve some of the biggest issues facing Australia and New Zealand. IBM is the trusted partner for Australia and New Zealand’s businesses and governments as they reshape and reinvent using cloud, AI and blockchain within a secure environment. Our clients succeed because of our world-leading researchers, engineers and designers and our deep industry expertise.

Application Process

  1. Apply Online

Once you find a role that interests you, the first step is to complete your application online. Remember you’ll need to attach your CV/Resume to the online application, so make sure you have it handy and that it’s up to date.

  2. Online assessments

While your application is being screened, all candidates will be required to take two Learning Agility assessments (Cognitive and Personality). A third assessment may be required based on the role (e.g. Developer roles will require a Coding assessment).

    • Cognitive Ability Assessment – helps us to understand how you learn, make decisions, and solve problems. You’ll encounter a series of 5 interactive games presenting you with text, numbers and shapes that you’ll need to read and manipulate to solve problems.
    • Personality Assessment – helps us understand your motivation and interests. All content is text based and you’ll be presented with a series of statements where you must decide which one best describes you.
    • Coding Assessment – helps us understand your level of programming knowledge and ability. You’ll be presented with multiple choice questions and/or a coding interface to solve a few coding challenges. Take note of the expected timeframe for the assessment and allow yourself some time to prepare your workspace and surroundings, ideally a quiet well-lit space where you won’t be disturbed.

  3. Online Video Interview

If your online application is successful, you will be invited to complete an online video interview. This is a chance for us to find out a bit more about you, your experience and what makes you tick. The interview can be completed anywhere you have a reliable internet connection, and we recommend setting aside half an hour in a quiet location so that you have time to set up and practice. Be prepared to answer some behavioural questions and showcase your passion for the role.

  4. Interviews

You’ll participate in a series of interviews that will either be in person or virtual. The format of the interviews (behavioural, group assessment, or technical) will depend on the role you are interviewing for. Regardless of the format, try to relax and enjoy the process. Remember that interviews are an opportunity to showcase your best and full self, as well as your chance to ask questions that help you determine if the role is a good fit for you.

  5. Decision

You’ll be notified after your final interview if you’ve been selected for the IBM role!
