Maffra is a regional town in the Gippsland region of Victoria, Australia, located in the Shire of Wellington. Maffra Primary School lies within the Macalister Irrigation District, an area known for its agricultural productivity, especially dairying and vegetable production. The town has a population in the vicinity of 4,000-5,000 people. Maffra serves as a local service hub for surrounding rural and farming communities. The original building was built in 1867 and is of historical significance within the community.
Maffra Primary School currently has an enrolment of 235 students. The school fosters a close relationship with Maffra Secondary College, Early Childhood Services and the local community. Maffra Primary School provides a high quality, comprehensive curriculum in line with the Victorian Curriculum. Specialist classes are offered in Visual Art, Performing Art, Auslan and Physical Education.

Maffra Primary School has currently partnered with Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO) Implementation Team, ensuring we are using a deliberate and structured approach to implement explicit teaching (evidence-based practices), using an implementation stages framework.
