At Warragul North Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment for students of all backgrounds. Our vision `Together we grow as a school community to nurture a sense of pride and belonging through active learning, curiosity and creating new experiences' and our values `Respect - We take responsibility for our interactions with people, place and the environment', `Inclusion - We celebrate and embrace diversity', `Creativity - We use initiative to make connections, innovate and take risks in our learning', and `Kindness - We help each other to be friendly, generous and considerate', are embedded in all aspects of our school, including learning, teaching, wellbeing, cultural awareness, curriculum planning and community engagement.
At Warragul North we have learning pods, where our students, teachers and educational support staff work, learn and plan together. We use the analogy of pea pods growing on a vine, connecting us together as a way of building the idea that we are a learning community.
Learning across our school, including specialist classes promotes sustainability, caring for our school and our school values. Our teaching team create whole-school opportunities to promote community and collaboration.
We have developed an active learning framework, which reflects the learning behaviours and actions we want to promote. We believe these behaviours will help our students become more empowered in their learning as they take greater responsibility for the decisions they make.
Our approach to student learning and wellbeing reflects our Whole Child Model. Students feel a strong sense of belonging when they are empowered in their learning, and when they feel connected to each other and their school. The model reminds us that every child is different and no matter their circumstances or background, they have the right to learn, be respected, and feel safe, reinforcing that there are many considerations when thinking about student learning and wellbeing. If students are to take greater responsibility for their learning, they need to be active participants in the learning process. We create opportunities where students have a real say (student voice) in their personal learning as well as the events and experiences that we offer at school.
In 2025 staff are building the physical environments of their classrooms so students can be emersed in print and supported by the interactive nature of the displays and resources. We have refurbished our library space to offer innovative and contemporary learning opportunities, creating a `flexi-space', a calm and inviting space for the whole school to use, increasing greater opportunities for richer learning and teaching. Our `Foundation Learning Centre' (FLC), creates a safe and nurturing environment for our youngest students, assisting in a supportive transition from kindergarten to primary school, providing students opportunities to experience positive and meaningful play inspired curriculum learning with a focus on wellbeing. `The Hive' is a parallel classroom, designed to equip students with confidence and independence, targeting individual needs for personalized learning programs through a variety of projects, extensions and group activities.
Warragul North Primary School offers a range of different opportunities and experiences for our students to engage in during their schooling years. These include but are not limited to; Pod Quests, Play-based Learning Opportunities, Lunchtime Activities, Senior and Junior Sports Carnivals and Events, Camps, Excursions and Incursions, Student Leadership, and Concerts and Productions.
In 2025 Warragul North Primary School has a current enrolment of 479 students, with 22 homegroups and offer the following specialist subjects: Physical Education, Visual Art, Performing Arts/Music, STEM, LOTE (Japanese) and Humanities. The staffing profile at Warragul North Primary School consists of the following: 1 Principal, 2 Assistant Principals, 1 Business Manager, 2 Leading Teachers, 1 Learning Specialist, 26 Classroom Teachers, 13 Specialist Teachers, 6 Administration Staff and 24 Education Support Staff.
SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the capacity to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated capacity to respond to student learning needs.
SC2 Demonstrated capacity to implement high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluate the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
SC3 Demonstrated capacity to monitor and assess student learning. Demonstrated capacity to use data to inform teaching practice and to provide feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated capacity to reflect upon practice and engage in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
