Wangaratta Primary School, nestled on Chisholm Street just behind the city's bustling commercial center, boasts a rich history spanning over 175 years. Situated near the confluence of the Ovens and King Rivers, our school enjoys a picturesque location that enhances the educational experience for our students.

 

Our campus features various facilities designed to promote learning, recreation, and community engagement. Opposite the main campus lies a spacious oval area, while adjacent to it is an environmental site nestled along the banks of the King River. Shaded play areas, basketball and netball courts, and lush grassed play spaces provide ample opportunities for physical activity and social interaction.

 

The junior school comprises four modern open-plan classrooms arranged around a sheltered courtyard, offering flexible learning environments for our young learners. This courtyard serves as an ideal space for small group activities and family gatherings during drop-off and pick-up times, especially on sunny Wangaratta days.

 

In our senior building, four classrooms open up to a large open learning space that doubles as a breakout area and a venue for whole-school events such as assemblies, exhibitions, and presentations. Additionally, this building features a small kitchen and a 'wet' activity area, providing versatility for our year 3-6 students.

 

Our heritage school building adds charm to our campus, housing a classroom, library, Art room and a fully equipped music room where our performing arts classes and choir rehearsals take place. Visitors are welcomed by a glassed front entrance and an open-style administration area, reflecting our commitment to transparency and inclusivity.

 

The current enrolment of 150 plus students is representative of a wide range of cultural backgrounds. The school is structured in composite classes, along with single year level Foundation classes. Specialist teaching areas include Visual Arts, Italia, Science, Physical Education and Digital Technology.
