The Opportunity:

Position:  Paediatric Speech Pathologist – New Graduate

Location: Bundoora, VIC

Employment Type:  Full-time or Part Time.  Days of work negotiable, including the option of a Saturday

Salary: Competitive rate comparable to other organisations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat speech and language disorders in paediatric patients (infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents).
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and goals.
  • Develop and implement group therapy session plans.
  • Conduct evaluations, screenings, and assessments to gather relevant patient information.
  • Conduct therapy sessions using evidence-based techniques to reach client treatment goals.
  • Monitor patient progress, document outcomes, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide information and support to families regarding communication strategies and techniques.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, both within the Chatterbox team and any significant professionals if requested by families in order to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and progress reports.
  • Stay informed about the latest research, advancements, and best practices in paediatric speech pathology.

Employee Perks:  We have several Allied Health Assistants, full time reception staff, an Administration Manager and Clinic Manager available full time to assist you with phone calls, resource making for sessions, setting and packing up after individual or group settings, diary management and more. Resources such as therapy equipment, journal articles, and/or textbooks are able to be requested for purchase.

Modern and comfortable work environment: Both of our clinics are designed for both individual therapy session and group therapy sessions.  We have a full size classroom that is a replica of a school or kindergarten room and it has equipment and resources that are also found in classrooms.  We have an amazing large gross motor gym, which our therapists love to use with their clients. Our new clinic (5 mins away) has been designed for our teenaged clients.  It is also the home of our new Creative Arts Centre ‘Sparkz’.  This clinic offers dance, drama, musical theatre, cooking and art therapy classes.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology
  • Successful completion of all relevant clinical placements.
  • At least one paediatric placement during 4th
  • CPS membership with Speech Pathologist Australia.
  • Working with Children Check.
  • Current police check.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to help others.
  • Strong understanding of a ‘family focused’ approach.
  • Strong understanding of NDIS and what is required by treating therapists.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical;-thinking abilities.
  • Strong interest in group therapy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and development.
