Joining the AustralianSuper 2026/27 Intern Program offers you an exciting opportunity to build a career with a growing global financial services organisation. Based in our Melbourne office, you will be exposed to a variety of our teams and start to develop the required capabilities and skills to help our members achieve the best possible retirement outcomes.   

Your new role 

AustralianSuper interns are offered unrivalled exposure to our award-winning teams, with the opportunity to work on real world projects and initiatives, whilst gaining exposure to senior business leaders.   

Working alongside high-performing colleagues across the Fund, you will be inspired daily by the challenging and fulfilling work of improving financial outcomes of members. You will build relationships with, and learn from, leaders in all areas of the Fund, establishing a comprehensive understanding of how our business groups come together.    

As a Strategy & Corporate Affairs intern, you will gain exposure to the teams that help shape AustralianSuper's strategic direction, drive enterprise-wide transformation and delivery, strengthen the Fund's reputation, and influence key policy outcomes. Working alongside experienced professionals and business leaders, you will contribute to initiatives that support the Fund's long-term priorities, strategic decision-making and organisational performance. 

Joining for 12 weeks from 30 November 2026 – 19 February 2027, you will develop your analytical, commercial and problem-solving capabilities while gaining experience in a function that sits at the centre of many of the Fund's most significant business initiatives. You will build an understanding of how strategy is developed and translated into action, how major programs and transformation initiatives are governed and delivered, and how stakeholder engagement, government relations and communications support the Fund's objectives. 

Through meaningful project work, you will gain insight into strategy development, business planning, transformation delivery, project governance, performance tracking, corporate affairs, investment relations and public policy. You will also learn how these capabilities support the Fund's long-term ambitions and help deliver positive outcomes for more than 3.6 million members.  

As part of the Strategy & Corporate Affairs function, you will gain experience across one or more of the following areas: Corporate Affairs & Investment Relations, Strategy & Transformation and Government Relations & Public Policy. 

What you’ll need    

  • A genuine interest in strategy, transformation and delivery, and how these capabilities help drive long-term outcomes for members 
  • A desire to build a career in areas such as strategy, business planning, transformation, project delivery, governance, corporate affairs, government relations, public policy or stakeholder engagement 
  • Intellectual curiosity, strong analytical capability and the ability to solve complex problems using data, research and critical thinking 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information into clear insights and recommendations for a range of stakeholders 
  • The ability to think strategically while maintaining a focus on execution and delivering outcomes in a complex and evolving environment 
  • A growth mindset, with excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills 
  • Adaptability and learning agility, with the ability to contribute effectively to high-performing teams 
  • Alignment with our member-first philosophy and a commitment to our values of Energy, Integrity, Generosity of Spirit and Excellent Outcomes 
  • Be in your final or penultimate year of an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in any discipline, whether that be in Business, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Law, Public Policy, Politics, International Relations, Arts, Engineering, Actuarial Studies or another field of study. 
  • Be available to participate in the 12-week Intern Program from 30 November 2026 to 19 February 2027 
  • Be able to commence full-time employment from January / February 2028 (2028 Graduate Program) 
  • Be an Australian/New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
