About us

The Audit Office of South Australia is the independent auditor of the South Australian (SA) public sector. Our Office reports directly to the SA Parliament on the audits of the finances, systems and processes of both state and local government agencies.

Our audits identify whether services and activities are effective, efficient and properly accounted for.  We also provide recommendations to public sector agencies on future improvements they could make to deliver better outcomes to the South Australian community.

About the role

The Auditor (ASO3) is our graduate role and is responsible for assisting with financial compliance and internal controls audits and conducting reviews on issues of importance and interest in the public sector.

About you

The successful candidate/s will need to have understanding and awareness (gained through your tertiary studies in accounting) of:

  • accounting methods and procedures
  • social and economic environment, including the responsibility placed on our Office for public accountability
  • accounting and auditing standards and practices
  • audit strategy and scope.

Essential requirements

  • completed a degree in accounting or commerce (majoring in accounting) or an appropriate degree recognised by the Auditor-General (candidates may still be considered if there is a small, part time study gap to meet the degree qualilfication at the time of commencing in the role).
  • the completed degree must meet the requirements for entry into the professional accounting program offered by CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (through their accredited tertiary degree entry pathways).
  • be an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident at the time of applying.

Specific requirements

  • Shortlisted candidate/s will be required to complete a pre-employment declaration form and provide evidence of Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency.
  • Recommended candidate/s will be required to undergo a national criminal history check.
